My arugula crop is a kitchen garden success! Planted in early spring, the seeds have sprouted and the dandelion-like leaves have provided a peppery bite to our sandwiches and salads for weeks.

Like lettuces, the plants prefer cool temperatures. Now that it’s warm, the arugula, also know as rocket in some regions, has bolted. Tall stalks have shot up with tiny white flowers perched on top. The blooms, which are tasty and pretty in salads, will soon set seeds, reminding me to harvest the leaves that I have, and to plant a fresh crop in early fall.

If you’re interested in planting some greens with a spicy kick, I get all my organic seeds from High Mowing Organic Seeds.

Happy gardening!

Love, Nora

Your crop is beautiful. I find that every year my arugula and spring mix grows so fast, I am left with so much going to seed. Guess we need to eat more salad!! Enjoy!!

I love arugula. I may have to give this a go next year.
It looks pretty enough to be a border plant!

We love arugula. I keep planting rows of it in the empty spinach/regular lettuce beds half way thru August and continue to harvest until frost comes to CT. When it gets too tangy, it works great in a pasta dish.
